And Then There Were Four

Review

And Then There Were Four

It all starts with the first --- and last --- Leader’s Club meeting; the five students go to the old carriage house and wait for their advisor. Suddenly, the building collapses and the students scramble to make it out alive. A little while later, they begin to theorize what happened with the house: why the teacher never showed, why they were chosen to be in this club and why the house collapsed. As time goes on, they develop a seemingly outrageous theory that becomes more and more likely --- especially when one of them perishes in what appears to be an accident. The remaining four go on the run to figure out how to stop those after them.

"I thoroughly enjoyed AND THEN THERE FOUR. It kept me on my toes and made me want to never stop reading. The book pulls at your emotions and makes you wish for more information."

As the four continue on, you find out more about their pasts and what they want for their futures. Surprise after surprise, you wonder if this nightmare they are living will ever end. Their journey leads them to new places and brings about new challenges --- as if running for your life was not a challenge enough. I do not want to say too much more. There are many things I could spoil and I would hate to do that. To learn how the mystery is solved and what happens to the remaining four students, get a copy of AND THEN THERE WERE FOUR to binge read for yourself.

I thoroughly enjoyed AND THEN THERE FOUR. It kept me on my toes and made me want to never stop reading. The book pulls at your emotions and makes you wish for more information. I cannot imagine having to be on the run with people you just met. I do not think I would feel very comfortable having to trust people I do not know with my life. The one thing I would say I do not like about the book is the time frame. It is very difficult to follow when things are happening --- for example, I thought we had jumped a week into the future but turns out it had only been two days. Near the end, the time frame becomes clearer but it is still hard to follow in the becoming. With that said, it does not take anything away from the story. It is still an excellent book that was extremely difficult to put down.

I would recommend this book to anyone but I would especially suggest it to anyone who loves mysteries. I also believe anyone who enjoyed the Unwind series by Neil Shusterman would find AND THEN THERE WERE FOUR intriguing. This book will help you see that first impressions are certainly not always correct and that sometimes love can come unexpectedly. This book is for anyone who has been afraid to speak their mind or ask for something they desire.

Slight spoiler alert: I would recommend this book to anyone who has difficulties with their parents as well. It may help put things in perspective. Unless of course, your parents have worked with other parents to attempt to murder you…
