Who
John Green: New York Times bestselling author of LOOKING FOR ALASKA, AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES, PAPER TOWNS, WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON and, of course, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS

Where
Tumblr

Why
While you may only be familiar with John Green via his young adult novels or the tear-jerking movies that they inspired, but he is somewhat of a legend on tumblr. John Green maintains a podcast with his brother Hank, where they answer listener questions and discuss some of their hobbies outside of writing bestselling books and entrepreneuring. The Green brothers also film CrashCourse, an educational youtube series about everything from classic books to astronomy. John and Hank also record their thoughts on current events and sometimes narrates themselves playing video games.

His tumblr is a solid collection of all these projects. Over at fishingboatproceeds.tumblr.com, John posts all of these and more in one feed. So what’s so legendary? John’s engagement. He is nearly a meme in his own right.

He frequently reblogs fans’ posts and seems to understand the tumblr culture, which is good considering his target audience is also tumblr’s core users. John Green’s brother produced a musical about tumblr (the only disappointing thing is the one measly reference to One Direction). There is even a game to play on the site where you spot the actual John Green on a thread. Here’s how.

Unfortunately, tumblr can’t have nice things. In 2015, a user accused John Green of sexual abuse and John Green responded head on. his response, he explains the damage throwing an accusation like that around does and his reasoning for distancing himself from the site. Despite this, he remains active, posting more original content than reblogs or comments.

What author do you know that serves you this much content? John Green is a great follow and, who knows, he might even show up in your notes one day.
